Listening to - Big and Rich - Lost In The Moment
So... seriously? I really can't get a break, even while flying on an air carrier!
I knew I should have checked the weather even for a flight I wasn't technically flying. Sitting in LGA for five hours with nothing to do leads to death for a twenty year old. There's only so many times I can read the Fundamentals of Instructing Gleim book. I now have NO excuse to not get a 100% on that exam haha.
I was supposed to be on United 129 LGA to ORD 2105Z wheels up. Called up the TIBS line around 19Z and we had a nice line of embedded cells over Hancock, aka the arrival route for LGA. You've gotta be kidding me, that's the same sector I trained on at NYARTCC! So pretty much I knew I wouldn't be going anywhere fast. I was tempted to call NY Flight Data position (I have their number thanks to some high up contacts at ZNY) and see what was going on and if my assumption of a LGA bound ground stop was true.
Kept calling TIBS every 15mins and as soon as one Sigmet expired, another would get posted further east. So much for making my connection.
My flight ended up leaving at 2353Z and got in 7minutes after my connection would've left. Since I had gone up to the counter and asked for an ETA at ORD and was told it would be past my connection time, they would not put me up in Chicago. Lesson learned.
Well I'll get to trek back into LGA again tomorrow morning bright and early. 7AM departure, 6:30 boarding, gotta get there by 6... At least I'm checked in already?
